Day 4 July 12, 2021 Cades Cove & Foothills Parkway

Today we traveled to the Smoky Mountains national Park and visited Cades Cove which is an area that was settled by the Cherokee Indians for hundreds of years and then settled by Europeans in between 1818 and 1821 there is an 11 Mile loop through Cades Cove along the route are three churches a working grist Mill Barnes log houses and other 18th and 19th century structures don't plan to visit on a Wednesday if you're riding a motorcycle or driving a car Wednesdays are reserved for bicycles also be prepared to stop and start. We found it to our advantage to leave early in the morning we saw lots of wildlife including turkeys whitetail deer and a mama black bear and three cubs. There is also a waterfall however there was construction going on and we were not able to visit the waterfall during our trip. After visiting Cades Cove loop Road we decided to get on the Foothills Parkway (the road less traveled)


for relaxing drive through the Smoky Mountains with some amazing views. We stopped for a late lunch at the dairy Queen in Maryville Tennessee before returning home.
