Day 7 Rocky Mount, NC to Virginia Beach, VA

Today we traveled from Rocky Mount North Carolina to Virginia Beach. We decided to take the longer route which traveled through farmlands and we were able to see peanuts growing cotton growing tobacco corn and soybeans. Please stopped along the way to fuel up and as we headed into Newport News we had to go through a tunnel into Norfolk, as we went to go into the tunnel all traffic was stopped. We couldn't get out of the line to go anywhere else and had to wait in the hot sun until we were able to get into the tunnel. Once in the tunnel traffic stopped again but eventually we got through it and got to the Holiday Trav-L-Park campground in Virginia Beach a little bit early to check in. We rented a Vintage Camper for 2 nights at $159 per night. They have a 5 night minimum but we got lucky and they had a 2 night gap between stays ON THE WEEKEND! Right after we got to the camper and got in, it started to rain. Shortly after it started it became a heavy downpour. Then it stopped for a little. Jeff and I decided to take a walk and barely got around the corner. When it started to pour again. We came back to the camper and just hung out in the camper for the rest of the evening somewhere around 6:00 We got a flash flood warning from the national weather service. Jeff kept watching the radar and was afraid that we might get some hail but they all never came. Thank goodness. The storm was over somewhere around 8:00 so we watched a little TV and then went to sleep. Tomorrow is supposed to be a great weather day so our plan is to head up to the beach. We rode 153 miles today.
